Meet the Instructor
Hi, I’m Joelle Ater, a contemporary abstract artist and the founder of Art Revel Gallery.
I believe that everyone is creative. Creativity isn’t something reserved for artists—it’s a way of thinking, exploring, and seeing the world. Sometimes all we need is permission to experiment without worrying about getting it “right.”
My classes are designed to help you do exactly that.
Rather than focusing on perfection or copying a painting step by step, I guide students through a series of creative exercises that introduce new techniques, encourage curiosity, and build confidence. Along the way, I’m available to answer questions, offer personalized guidance, and help you discover your own artistic voice.
Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to art after many years, my goal is to create a space where you feel free to play, explore, and enjoy the creative process.

Not at all! Classes are beginner-friendly, and you’ll receive guidance throughout the session.

Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little paint on. Aprons are available, but paint has a way of finding its way everywhere!

Most classes last 2 hours, but the experience could be longer or shorter, depending on your event needs.

Yes! You’re welcome to bring your favorite snacks and beverages, or we can help coordinate catering.

No! Every class has a different theme, technique, or creative focus, so you can come back again and again for a new experience.

Most classes are open to adults, but minors are welcome with an accompanying adult. We also host private paint parties and art experiences for kids.

Yes. Private painting classes held at Art Revel Gallery require a minimum of 6 participants. For off-site classes at your location, a minimum of 8 participants is required. If your group has fewer than 8 participants, an additional fee may apply.

Absolutely! I travel for private painting parties, team-building events, birthdays, bridal showers, and other special occasions.
Travel within the Boise/Treasure Valley area is included. For events outside the Treasure Valley, a travel fee will be added based on distance.
